CodePath Named to Fast Company’s Annual List of the World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2024
The Nonprofit Creating Billions of Dollars In Additional Cumulative Earnings for Underserved Tech Students Is Recognized for Its Work in Transforming Higher Education
CodePath, the organization dedicated to reprogramming higher education to create the most diverse generation of engineers, CTOs, and founders, announced today it has been named to Fast Company’s prestigious list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2024 in the category of Education.
Since its founding in 2017, CodePath has trained over 26,000 computer science students from 600 colleges and universities with its industry-vetted courses and career preparation services. CodePath alumni are now working at more than 2,000 companies in the most competitive technical roles and have an average annual starting salary of $92,000 after graduation. Its top 3 employers currently are Amazon, Microsoft, and Google.
“When we first created CodePath, our dream was to repair the broken bridge between what CS students were learning in college, and what the tech industry needed,” said CodePath CEO and Co-Founder Michael Ellison. “Today we are beyond thrilled that CodePath - and all of our staff, students, supporters, and community - are being recognized by Fast Company as a leading innovator in the Education sector. In the next five years, CodePath plans to grow by another 10x to serve 100,000 students annually, so that we reach nearly 100% of the underserved student population and ensure best-in-class educational experiences are not just accessible, but become the default experience for all.”
In the past year, CodePath has deployed AI educational tools and technology to personalize learning at scale, embedded its curriculum and career services into universities such as Georgia State University and Perimeter College, and partnered with companies like Salesforce, Amazon, JPMorgan Chase, and others to close the tech talent gap.
CodePath is supported by philanthropists, companies, and organizations like Andreessen Horowitz, Blue Meridian Partners, Comcast, Google, Knight Foundation, Meta, New Profit, and YCombinator to support its work delivering CS courses and career readiness programs centered on the needs of Black, Latino/a, Indigenous, and low-income students for lasting economic mobility.
